HER has partnered with Kin Travel to offer an intimate journey to the hidden paradise of Haiti's north coast in a safari-style, tented camp on a 150 acre private beach cove, supporting the local ecosystem and communities only accessible by boat and foot. Tap into your inner Peter Pan with this transformational Caribbean experience  as we relearn what it mean to connect with ourselves, our neighbors around the world, and Mother Nature.

From an impact perspective, Kin offsets the carbon footprint of all trips via Terrapass and invest all member dues as a travel group into an Impact Fund which in Haiti (atop the contributions our community commits too!) invest in local change makers driving solutions specific to artisan entrepreneurship and access to quality education and healthcare. Our trip specifically will be focused on funding a teacher training program in 2019 for the mountain village schools of Port Français and the Artisan Incubator Program at Haiti Design Co., all of which we will visit on our journey.

This and so much more is in store with HER’s very first getaway. A Galentines weekend for the books, our HER hosts: Babba, Katherine, Cassie, and Laura look forward to starting off 2019 with intention and connection in paradise-- with a sundowner cocktail in hand.

Deep Roots

“I've never stepped into so many extraordinary friendships so instantly or had an experience so directly transform my life.”

—  Lauren Burns, LA

A big part of our purpose in Haiti is to act as an alter for her natural and cultural beauty. Our trip takes place on the north coast which is largely only accessible by boat and foot. You'll land in  Cap-Haitien, the second largest city in Haiti, and venture 30 minutes by car to Labadie and 30 minutes by boat to Kay Moy, our private 150 acre, Jurassic Park hideaway.

Our journeys are inspired by the experiential blueprint of safaris, which is a beautiful balance of adventure, respite and surprise. Below is a frame for our journey which takes final shape with the unique happenings of each specific week. As with all Kin trips, we encourage you to join all that inspires you and opt-out of whatever you'd like to have a Swiss Family Robinson hideaway all to yourself.

Lunch in Cap Haitien + caravan over the mountain to Labadie

Camp tour, swim + sundowners

Family dinner under the stars

Vodou blessing + drum circle on the beach

Your room is a gorgeous 16' bell-tent with either a queen or two twin beds, memory foam mattress, fine linens, lounge chairs, furnishings by local artisans and swag from our local, social enterprise partner Haiti Design Co. You'll wake to the ocean lapping on the beach just steps from your door, birds chirping and see sailboats and kayaks paddling in at sunrise with honey, lobster, mangos and treasures from locals bringing finds for Dillon and Flannery.

The rest of camp is a Swiss Family Robinson dream: a main tent with a beautiful lounge and driftwood bar, a giant family dining table beneath an almond tree, a jungle kitchen, jungle shower, candle-lit bathroom, fire pit, and yoga space / dance floor.

Food and Drink

Atop creating jobs and operating almost entirely through local supply chains, we've focused our impact efforts on education and community health in an isolated village called Port Francais and artisan entrepreneurship and eco-sanitation solutions throughout Haiti.

Our partners:
ProDev Haiti
improving the learning environment and leading a teacher training program for two schools.

MPowerd - bringing light to families to improve household  health and study / work hours.
