HER has partnered with Kin Travel to offer an intimate journey to the hidden paradise of Haiti's north coast in a safari-style, tented camp on a 150 acre private beach cove, supporting the local ecosystem and communities only accessible by boat and foot. Tap into your inner Peter Pan with this transformational Caribbean experience as we relearn what it mean to connect with ourselves, our neighbors around the world, and Mother Nature.
From an impact perspective, Kin offsets the carbon footprint of all trips via Terrapass and invest all member dues as a travel group into an Impact Fund which in Haiti (atop the contributions our community commits too!) invest in local change makers driving solutions specific to artisan entrepreneurship and access to quality education and healthcare. Our trip specifically will be focused on funding a teacher training program in 2019 for the mountain village schools of Port Français and the Artisan Incubator Program at Haiti Design Co., all of which we will visit on our journey.
This and so much more is in store with HER’s very first getaway. A Galentines weekend for the books, our HER hosts: Babba, Katherine, Cassie, and Laura look forward to starting off 2019 with intention and connection in paradise-- with a sundowner cocktail in hand.
A FAMILY HISTORY
Tim and Kim Mangs read of a sleepy little fishing town in Haiti in a 1977 issue of National Geographic. They built a little thatched hut and over 40 years became part of the village and raised their three boys in it - their sons are known by names given to them by village elders. Our beach camp and Haiti journey is run by their oldest son, Dillon, who grew up fishing with the locals and playing soccer with the village kids.
